The first Day: The 8th of Dhul Hijjah
In the morning of 8th Dhul Hijjah (the day of Tarwiyah) the pilgrim
performing Tammattu‘ Hajj puts on his Ihram dress again and prays two
rak‘as of Ihram declaring his intention of offering Hajj by saying:
“O Allah! I want to perform Hajj so make it easy for me and accept it
from me, I intend to offer Hajj and entered the state of Ihram for
Allah, so if I am detained by anything, my release from Ihram shall be
where I am detained”.
He recites al – Talbiyah for three times “Labbayk Allahum Labbayk” (“ O
Allah I’m here……) And concludes by saying salutations upon our prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him).
If the pilgrim performing Tammattu‘ Hajj wants to perform the Sa‘y of
Hajj before performing Tawaf Al –Ifadah (to relieve himself after coming
back from Arafat) he should perform an optional Tawaf with Idibaa during
all rounds, moving quickly (Ramal) in the first three rounds, and then
he performs the Sa‘y of Hajj.
Heading to Mina:
In the morning of the 8th of Dhul Hijjah (the day of Tarwiyah), after
the Fajr prayers, and after sunrise and Doha prayers, all pilgrims head
towards Mina.
They stay there till the sunrise of the day of Arafah, and pray in Mina
five prayers (Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr of the following day,
the 9th. of Dhul Hijja). While going to Mina, the pilgrim says:
“O Allah! In You is my hope, and to You I supplicate. So make my best
hopes come true, forgive me, grant me a favor as You bestowed upon Your
obedient servants, You are over all things Competent”.
In Mina, the pilgrim increases invocations and says “Our Lord, give us
in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is]
good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire”.
It is a Sunnah (prophetic tradition) to stay for a while and pray in
Al-Khayf mosque (in Mina).
